"Smashing Pumpkins is a unique songwriter and singer that everyone must hear. Lake Street Dive, another favorite, should have made the 'Best Of Show' list.
The sound at Lake Street Dive show was good, but not as impressive as other places like Mountain Stage ( WV ) and Manchester Music Hall ( Lexington, KY ) where I have seen them before. Still, it was an enjoyable show.
On the contrary, the sound for Smashing Pumpkins was quite terrible in my seat, despite having good seats ( Row H - Seats #1-2-3-4-5). Vocals were often overshadowed, especially on the low end of the spectrum. I tried moving to different spots to see if it improved... unfortunately, it did not!
The venue had JBL speaker line arrays and the Yamaha QL series digital audio console, so there was no reason for such poor sound quality. The sound engineer may have been inexperienced, indifferent, or the sound system installation was subpar.
The PNC Pavilion is an ideal spot for smaller shows, and I would return for more concerts. It's a good size for live music, not overly large. I just hope the audio team gives the artists the attention they deserve next time."
